[2] ----- Screw Yer Roommate -----Screw Yer Roommate is SOON: September 18th (that's NEXT Friday!)
How It Works:
1) Find a date for your roommate.
-Scope out your classes, check cubbies at Fondren, or hunt down people you see walking through the Quad. Feel free to post classified ads on the discussion forums on this group. Do what you gotta do to get your roommate a Screw.
2) Talk to prospective date's roommate.
-Plan an outfit for your roommates to wear. The way they find each other is through their attire, so be creative. Possible examples: PB&J, Adam & Eve, Cookies & Milk.
Schedule of Events:
6 PM- Find your date in the Academic Quad!
-Enjoy some Redbull drinks while you wander the Quad and search for your other half.
Go have dinner with your date and a group of friends.
10 PM- Meet back at Willy's Pub for After-Screw.
-Share your Screw stories, get FREE FOOD, and end your evening the right way.
If you have any questions, you can ask me (Punya!) 352-217-3231 or email me at pon1@rice.edu

[10] ----- Flu Vaccine Researcher -----Flu vaccine researcher to speak at Rice Friday
Dr. Flor de Maria Muņoz-Rivas, who is part of the team conducting the H1N1 vaccine trials at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), will discuss the virus that has fast-forwarded flu season this year during a noon-hour lecture Friday, Sept. 11, in Duncan Hall's McMurtry Auditorium.
Muņoz-Rivas, an assistant professor in BCM's Department of Pediatrics/Section of Infectious Diseases and Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology, will provide insight both from a public health perspective and from a scientific and an academic perspective.
She was co-investigator of a National Institutes of Health (NIH) study of the protocol for rapid response to novel H1N1 sample collection, and she's currently the site principal investigator for NIH studies of novel H1N1 and H1N2 influenza vaccines in pediatrics. She has also served as principal investigator for studies to improve influenza vaccine coverage in pregnant women.
Muņoz-Rivas has an M.D. from Francisco Marroquin University in Guatemala City. Following pediatrics internships at Roosevelt Hospital in Guatemala City and at BCM-affiliated teaching hospitals in Houston, Muņoz-Rivas did a pediatrics residency and fellowship at BCM.

For those of you who don't know, I'm Andy and I'm the Will Rice Representative for the Baker Institute Student Forum. Basically, what we do is invite famous people to come and speak at Rice, specifically the Baker Institute for Public Policy.
Historically, we have gotten big names such as
-John McCain (2 yrs ago)
-Condoleeza Rice (last yr)

These events are open to the public and but seating is limited so what this means is that BISF members get first dibs on all seats. If you're interested in joining, come to our meeting next Sunday at 7pm at the Dole Commons in the Baker Institute
On Halloween (Oct 31st) the Baker Institute is having a HUGE event. Many high ranking officials and international leaders are comng to this event.
-Madeline Albright
-Henry Kissinger
-Possibly President Obama
So I'll keep you guys up to date.
