[5] ----- Volunteer Opportunities Fair -----
Looking to get involved in the Houston community? Unsure of what volunteer opportunity will be the right fit? Come to the Volunteer Opportunities Fair to visit with and learn about more than 40 agencies in the Houston area! The Volunteer Opportunities Fair will be held on Monday, September 14 from 2:00-5:00pm in the Grand Hall of the RMC. For more information about the agencies and their available opportunities, please visit the Community Involvement Center's website (http://cic.rice.edu) and click on the link for "Volunteer Opportunities Fair."

If you have any questions, please contact Christa Leimbach (leimbach@rice.edu / 713-348-6044).

[6] ----- Flu Vaccine -----
It turns out that Health Services is */_not_/* going to receive the regular flu immunizations as predicted. Therefore, they are _postponing the Sept. 10th clinic_. They are currently scrambling to locate vaccines from another source and we will keep you informed as we learn more. In the interim, students can get their flu shots at area Walgreen's, CVS Pharmacies, and Randall's grocery stores. The cost will be higher (approx. $25), but some students shouldn't wait - especially those who have compromised immune systems or upper respiratory conditions. You can help by organizing trips for those who don't have cars!

On a related note, please encourage sick students (i.e. those with a fever, you can give them a digital thermometer) to REFRAIN FROM ATTENDING CLASS OR GROUP FUNCTIONS. Dean Forman has stated that he will advocate for any students that feel their professor is not being cooperative. It is in the best interest of everyone - including the professor - that these students stay in their rooms. They should arrange for someone to bring them their meals (which can be arranged by your servery) or, at the very least, wear a face mask if they must enter public areas. Face masks are available from Health Services and we have ordered some for your kits.

There is no need to panic. Just remind people that we're talking about the regular ol' flu. *For most students it will just be an inconvenience*. Let Health Services know if you have any questions/concerns!

[13] ----- Twitter -----
Do you Twitter? We're starting a list of WRC/McM Twitterers. Add your account to this list, then follow and be followed!

Talk to Michael (rog@) if you have questions.

[14] ----- Do not give out your ID/Password -----
Don't be a failjob. Just say no to emails that ask for your Rice ID/Password.

The phishing campaigns launched over the
Labor Day weekend caught at least five
Rice community members unaware and they
gave up their passwords to the spammers.
Whenever a Rice email password is compromised,
the account is locked to prevent further damage.

Remember no one at Rice will ever ask for
your password or other personal information.
Every email that asks for personal information
is a hoax.

Thanks to everyone who alerted us to the phishing
campaigns. Kudos to all of you who did NOT fall
for the hoaxes!

To find out more information about the positions available, apply for job and schedule interviews, come by our informational session on Thursday, September 10, 2009 in the Trauber Suite of the Tudor Field House from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. or come visit us outside of the Grand Hall in the Student Center tomorrow (9/9) from 11-2.
