[5] ----- Free Food -----To kick of your Spring Recess, Colleges Against Cancer will have FREE FOOD and some information about reproductive health at Ray's Courtyard (by the RMC) from 1pm -5pm on Wednesday, April 1st. Shirts will be sold for only $7, so bring your money and invite your friends. Proceeds will go towards Relay for Life which will be held at Rice on April 17-18!

This email is just a reminder that the Spirit of Service Award
Nominations are due this Friday, April 3 at 5:00pm!
To promote and recognize student contributions to service, both at
Rice and in the broader Houston community, the Rice Service Council
will honor individuals at the first annual Volunteer Recognition Event
with the Spirit of Service Awards. The Rice Service Council’s Spirit
of Service Awards strive to recognize individuals who continually try
to meet the needs of their clients, community partners and
co-volunteers without complaint or formality. Rice undergraduate or
graduate students who act selflessly to bring aid to those around them
should be recommended by a peer, a volunteer coordinator, or agency
representative familiar with their work. Those students who seem
motivated by giving not receiving and habitually ask themselves and
others what they can do to help should be considered for an award.
The recipients of the Spirit of Service Awards will be formally
recognized at the first annual Volunteer Recognition Event at Sammy's
on Thursday, April 9 at 6:00pm. Please encourage your members to honor
each other by submitting nominations to cic.rice.edu.

[9] ----- PAIR -----With PAIR (Partnership for the Advancement and Immersion of Refugees) weekly mentoring, volunteers from Rice go to mentor at the Sun Blossom Mountain Apartments in Southwest Houston. Catholic Charities, one of the largest refugee resettlement agencies in Houston, runs the program. It goes from Monday to Friday from 3:30 pm - 6:00ish pm.
While the program is five days a week, we mentor on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. You would only need to mentor one of these days on a weekly basis.
