[2] ----- Give a Dollar @ lunch -----The Dollar Difference is a fundraiser which tries to raise one dollar,
no more and no less, from as many people as possible to fight poverty
and hunger in the developing countries. The idea is simple, but the
effect can be great. One Dollar from everyone of the 3,102
undergraduates here at Rice can make a huge difference to those
suffering from poverty and hunger.
We will be in the college commons from Monday March 30th through Wednesday April 1st during lunch. Bring your dollar and make a difference!
(The organization the money goes to is called The Hunger Project.
This organization works to end poverty and hunger in the developing
countries by "empowering women and men to end their own hunger". One
way they do this is through buildings called Epicenters, which are
built in the center of a cluster of villages. This building contains
programs in health, including HIV/AIDS prevention, education, adult
literacy, nutrition, improved farming and food security, microfinance,
and water and sanitation. The best part about these buildings,
however, is that within five years, it becomes self sustainable by the
people it helps, effectively "empowering" them to end their own
hunger. They have many other effective projects, all of which you can
check out at thp.org.)
If you have any more questions about the Dollar Difference, contact
Trishna Narula at thn1@rice.edu or (281) 743-1721. Thanks!!

[11] ----- ROOMMATE WANTED -----Hey Will Rice,
Congratulations on SWEEP No. 4! My roommates (Clark Smithson WRC '08 and Ali Hamshari WRC '07) are looking for a third roommate to take my place in our townhome in the Heights. I'm moving to Binghamton, NY to begin a new baseball broadcasting job and hope to find a Will Ricer who would enjoy the house and the roommates while being close to downtown and the major highways. Our place is located at 3809 Centerplaza Drive in Rice Military. It is in between Yale and Shepherd just off of Washington Street. It's in great proximity to a couple of our favorite bars and restaurants (Porch Swing and Pearl Bar come to mind). It is a gated townhome community about half a mile south of I-10. We're hoping to find a Will Ricer for this vacancy. The rent is $600. The house has appliances, washer and dryer, internet, etc... Water is already included.
If interested send me an e-mail at mmccabe@alumni.rice.edu or feel free to call my cell at (832) 794-9847.
Take care!
