The Will Rice College web site was entirely redesigned
over the summer of 2000 by Alan Mislove and Charlie Reis,
in an effort to make it significantly more useful to
members of the college. Additional help was provided by
Matt Pakes with the graphical design and Jacob Matthews
with fixing problems on the server.
In addition to an entirely new appearance,
the site is now database-driven, including dynamic news
and calendar pages, along with many other resources. The
site is updated through an online administration system
which allows members of the college to log in and do such
things as add calendar events or manage events for their
organizations.
We are continually adding new features and pages to
the site, and we encourage any members of the college
to get involved.

The News section of the site lists any news or announcements
that are important to the college. This includes anything
from current events to deadlines to to Beer Bike, though the
majority of announcements are sent out regularly to the college
listserv by the Will Rice secretary.

The Resources section hosts the WRC Movie Collection and
ladders for the Game Room. We are working to have the test
file online, so old exams will be available for studying.
New suggestions for the Resources section are always welcome.

|
The Calendar section is an easy way to keep up with everything
that is going on around Will Rice, as well as the university in general.
Events are posted by student organizations, and they usually have
a contact email address if you have questions or would like
to participate. We hope that the calendar will help to get
all members of Will Rice, even those living off-campus, more
involved in college life.

The Computing section will contain several pages to help college
members understand computing at Will Rice, including information
to help freshmen set up their computers for email and documents
regarding off-campus access. The section will also contain many
links to useful pages, both within the university and on the
web in general.

|
The College section of the site will contain everything from
the names of the Diet members and College Committees to the
minutes from Diet meetings and archived email announcements.
And of course, there will be no shortage of Beer Bike resources for those
interested in our fine college's domination of the event.
